As is the nature of startups, this time we got a little better and 'scaled' our spam musubi operation. Rather than make the spam musubi ourselves, we got in touch with Brad Lum over at Grindz Restaurant and bought them. Mahalo to Darryl Higashi of HCCNC for the connection.
We got started at 8:30am, which turned out to be good timing. There was a lot of foot traffic from the nearby BART station and we even managed to give some spam musubi to bikers. Check out the expert spam toss!
We managed to pass out all 500 spam musubi in about an hour. We then hustled back to the 500 Startups office, where we had one more day of Marketing Hell week to go.
By noon, the word had gotten out back in Hawaii.
Governor David Ige gave us some love on Twitter:
.@GovHawaii Mahalo! We're proud to be representing Hawaii in SF at @500Startups

You make Hawai'i proud! Show the world Hawai'i's creativity and innovation skills.

KITV news also ran a story on our efforts: "Paubox hands out SPAM musubi in SF"
All told, it was a great event. The Paubox team loved it. 500 Startups really liked it. Hawaii loved it.
