I flew back to Honolulu yesterday to participate in this week's Future Focus 2017: The Hawaii Innovation Initiative's Forum on Astronomy, Space Exploration, and Cybersecurity. It will be held October 4th and 5th at the Hawaii Convention Center. As part of tomorrow's activities, I've been asked to present a 10-minute Afternoon TED Talk to share my Innovation Journey. As I wasn't formerly aware I'm on such a journey, this post is my place to put my thoughts together for tomorrow.
The innovation journey consists of a nonlinear cycle of divergent and convergent activities that may repeat in unpredictable ways over time. These findings suggest that entrepreneurs and managers cannot control innovation success, only its odds by developing and practicing skills for traversing the obstacles encountered in divergent and convergent cycles of the journey.
