Last May, we launched our first Paubox Customer Success Road Show, returning to the homeland of Hawaii to meet with customers and make new friends. While there, we visited Gordon Bruce, one of the Board of Directors at Seagull Schools.
Why was Paubox created in the first place? Paubox Founder CEO Hoala Greevy shares his vision for seamless encrypted email.
You can read the full transcript of our conversation below.
Gordo Bruce: Why Paubox was created
Gordo Bruce: Let me ask you a question okay. You have always been an innovator. I met you through a mutual friend, Andrew Lanning, way back in the days and you created PauSpam. You created DareShare and then you came up with this. How did you come up with this idea of encrypted email? I mean the spamming was one thing but this encrypted email that's so simple to set up?
Hoala Greevy: So talking to customers. Make-a-Wish Hawaii was our first customer, and then talking to more customers, and sensing a pattern and then figuring out, “Well, if there's a pattern, there could be more people out there that need this solution.” And then really designing Paubox to be with the user in mind first rather than the technical implementation.
Gordo Bruce: Because back originally when these things were starting, I would have to go to a website.
Hoala Greevy: You still have to. Everyone else is doing that.
Gordo Bruce: Log in, create an account…
Hoala Greevy: Oh yeah.
Gordo Bruce: But you don’t do that. I could set this thing up in minutes.
Hoala Greevy: Yeah, as you guys did with Seagull, yes. We figured if we could remove the friction while maintaining the compliance, you know we could have something very special.
Gordo Bruce: So here's the beauty of this thing, and again I’m passionate about the technology - cryptocurrencies, bitcoin, blockchain. The fact is I can go and within less than 10 minutes, I can be on Paubox Email Suite.
Hoala Greevy: That's true.
Gordo Bruce: That's it. And I don’t have to go to all of my users, I have a 1000 users, doesn't matter, I can just go and do it. I know because I did it for 200 employees and flipped it in 10 minutes. And there it is.
Hoala Greevy: Yep.
Gordo Bruce: That's a hard sell. That’s hard to make people understand that it’s that easy.
