Dario Loeb of Abode Services describes HIPAA Compliance as it relates to Abode Services. This is an excerpt of Dario’s comments during a HealthTech Fireside Chat at 500 Startups SF on 21 September 2016. Also on the panel were Jason Johnson and Geoff Clapp. It was moderated by Hoala Greevy.
"Good evening everybody, that's a good question. Abode works with many landlords and many services throughout the Bay Area just to help break down barriers of housing for mental health, veterans, and things of that nature. Abode's policy is to focus on to getting people into housing first and then working on once they stabilize them in housing, to work on services needed to help stabilize them. All the other non-profits want to try to stabilize the person first and then try to get them in to housing. And studies have shown that many clients regress when they're not basically stable first. Abode's model has shown great levels of success by stabilizing people first and then helping them with services afterwards. And in regards to HIPAA compliance, man that's just what we do. Healthcare, case management, emails obviously, that's why we're a new customer [of Paubox]."
