We packed our bags, marketing gear and suits and took off for Las Vegas last night. The purpose of our trip: The annual HIMSS conference. The #HIMSS16 keynote speaker this year is Michael Dell, who spoke this morning. There's about 50,000 people in attendance so we used today (Day One) to check in and get our bearings.
Upon picking up my conference swag, I met Sawrab Nayak from CGI Federal. We struck up a conversation about our campaign to abolish email portals. I also invited him to our social mixer, which we'll be hosting at 6pm on Thursday.
More details are on our evite page.
As luck would have it, we ran into my friend Scott Mace, senior technology editor for HealthLeaders Media. His pro tips for the conference are to blanket the showroom floor and attend certain breakout sessions. Speaking of, we attended the Nursing Informatics Symposium. I got more info from the folks at AORN Journal on their guest article guidelines. We're hoping to write a technology article or two for their well established publication.
