On Thursday we held our August Social Mixer at 500 Startups in San Francisco. Part of Paubox company culture is continuous improvement and experimentation. As such, we tried some new things.
First, we ordered catered food from our friends at Grindz Restaurant. We previously ordered our 500 spam musubi from Grindz too.
The menu was incredible: Poke on taro chips, kalua pig sliders, meatballs, garlic chicken wings, more spam musubi and even malasadas. Ono!
Incredible food from Grindz Restaurant
The second new thing we tried was using Eventbrite rather than Evite. Eventbrite has good event discovery, which meant we saw new faces. We did got some attendees that ate, drank and left rather quickly however, which was not what we were looking for. A good majority of our new guests, like the good folks pictured below, did stick around for our presentation.

The third new thing we did was record our presentation. Mahalo to Chloe Bowen of 500 Startups for allowing us to use their fine equipment =)
We recorded our presentation and did Q&A
I chose to base our presentation around recent record level HIPAA fines in Healthcare. Advocate Health Care for example, was given a whopping $5.5M HIPAA fine this month- a new record.
