Kawika Naweli is one of the Paubox Kahikina Scholarship 2024 recipients and is now attending the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa, studying toward a computer science degree. Here is a word from Kawika:
“Upon the completion of my freshman year at UH Manoa I was pleasantly surprised to find the number of opportunities available to Native Hawaiians in STEM. Hawaii's tech scene continues to grow and create more opportunities for the people of Hawaiʻi to remain home and thrive while pursuing a lucrative career. We often see Hawaiians less represented within STEM careers and this is where we can rely on our community for support. There are many communities like Paubox Kahikina which offers Native Hawaiians financial support in pursuing careers in STEM and host a vast network of valuable connections. With the support of our community, Native Hawaiians will be at the forefront of shaping the future.”
