Written by Farah Amod | June 10, 2024

The Paubox Kahikina Scholarship helps Native Hawaiian students pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) and Tech in general. Its purpose is to offer financial support and create a strong network for these students. The scholarship makes education more affordable and connects students with professionals, giving them valuable opportunities to learn and grow in their chosen STEM or Tech fields. This scholarship is about more than just money; it's about building a community and empowering Native Hawaiian students to succeed in STEM or Tech careers.

Hailey Grace was one of the Paubox Kahikina Scholarship 2021 recipients and is now attending Kapi’olani Community College (KCC), studying toward a medical laboratory technology (MLT) degree. Here is a word from Hailey:

“As I reflect on the last few years as a recipient of the Paubox Kahikina STEM Scholarship, I am in awe of how fast time has flown by.

I now sit here, the day before my graduation from KCC’s MLT program, writing my next update. It feels surreal. And at the end of this month, I will be taking my board exam (and earn my licensing in the state of Hawai`i), then begin looking for a career as an MLT. My educational journey does not stop here, however.

I have just been accepted into the MT program at UH Mānoa! I will be continuing my education in pursuit of my Bachelor’s degree. And even beyond that, I will continue my education in my career, earning P.A.C.E. credits annually. I want to thank Paubox Kahikina for supporting me as I work towards becoming a Medical Laboratory Scientist. That’s all for now!”
