SF meetup - Paubox Kahikina STEM Scholarship

Written by Hoala Greevy | November 12, 2023

Last month we hosted a meetup in San Francisco for the Paubox Kahikina STEM Scholarship.

What's happening: I moderated a fireside chat with Eric Nakagawa and Nick Wong. Four scholarship recipients attended, as well as Eric's daughter.

My takeaways:

  • Recipients Jada Lee, Koa Chang, Landon Choy, and Logan Lau attended.
  • Yes, even amongst Hawaiians, a rivalry exists between Stanford and UC Berkeley.
  • Eric shared his success story with I Can Has Cheezburger?
  • Nick shared his experiences with the Paubox Kahikina STEM Scholarship and his current role as Product Manager at Paragon.
  • Questions included internships at Google and Meta.

About the scholarship: The primary objective of the Paubox Kahikina STEM Scholarship is to encourage Native Hawaiians to pursue careers in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math).

The scholarship is recurring in nature. In other words, recipients receive $1,000 per year until they graduate.

The bottom line: Connecting recipients to our professional network will always be of interest, for both parties.
