Personalized scholarships via Scholar's App: Lunch with Traven Watase
Hoala Greevy August 29, 2024
I caught up with Traven Watase of Scholar's App over lunch today at The Pacific Club in Honolulu.
What's happening: Traven is the founder of Scholar's App, a platform that connects students to verified scholarships and helps track the entire financial aid process.
They signed up for Paubox Email Suite in 2015.
Scholar's App: We use Scholar's App to as our central listing source for the Paubox Kahikina Scholarship. We've been their customer since 2019.
We've funded a total of 46 scholarships to-date via Scholar's App.
Here's what I learned:
- "The more personalized a scholarship is, the more applicants you'll get in Scholar's App." (Traven Watase)
- As an experiment, Traven suggested creating a separate scholarship listing next year for my alma mater, McKinley High School. The same criteria would apply:
- Native Hawaiian
- Pursuing a STEM or technology related major
- Enrolled in an accredited college or university
- Annually publish content on your college journey
