We decided to stop using our Twitter account (@pauboxhq) today, effectively immediately.
What's happening: During our weekly Level 10 meeting for the management team, we discussed whether to stop using Twitter. It was a quick decision.
Here's why:
- Twitter is now a toxic brand.
- No one could recall the last time we received any engagement on Twitter (replies, likes, or retweets)
- Tweets are no longer public. Why would we use something that can't be viewed?
- Negative ROI advertising on Twitter. In fact, we've yielded $0 all-time via Twitter ads.
Why it matters: As an ascendant startup, we want to be associated with successful brands. Twitter is no longer in that category.
The bottom line: Our customers are no longer using Twitter, as it's become a toxic brand.
