We sat down with Laura Coughlin, Director of Product Success at Podi, and Danielle Joseph, Client Success Manager, to learn how they have used Paubox to aid in Podi's mission. Coughlin says they are "the team that is always looking for ways to improve the experience for patients, providers, and the payers."
When it came to integrating Paubox, Coughlin helped determine potential use cases for Paubox and how effective it would be for the company. Joseph is client-facing and has first-hand experience with how Paubox has worked for Podimetrics in individual and mass email use cases.
The program
Podimetrics is changing the way complex diabetes is treated through its SmartMat ProgramTM, a preventive remote temperature monitoring (RTM) program for diabetic foot ulcers (DFUs)–a condition that can recur in patients with compdiabetes and even lead to amputation. 40% of people who have a DFU have a second one within 12 months1.
That's where The SmartMat ProgramTM comes in. Patients stand on it for 20 seconds per day, the Smart Mat will scan their foot health and send the data automatically to Podimetrics patient support services team for remote monitoring. The support services team looks for any signs of inflammation and provides patients with personalized support.
Coughlin and Joseph want their program to be smooth, allowing patients to quickly enroll and stay engaged. They primarily communicate with the payers, who ensure patients are eligible and aid in the enrollment and targeting.
The Challenge
Before Paubox, Podimetrics often used snail mail for sending marketing communications. While effective, it can be costly to print and send letters, time-consuming, and always runs the risk of mail getting delayed or lost. The team knew there had to be a better way, and that's why they chose Paubox Marketing.
Similarly, the team had to use other services to connect with clients individually. "It was just your standard [interface], typically going through secure email portal, which requires passwords, and that's super clunky," said Coughlin.
While the team still uses these channels, Paubox has been the perfect addition–and one they plan to continue implementing to maximize every benefit possible.
The Solution
With Paubox Marketing, the team sends regular newsletters with helpful reminders and updates to patients. For patients who opt to share their email, Podimetrics can send them all of this information with a click of a button.
The essential elements for Coughlin and Joseph were ease of creation, simple set-up, and personalization. As an organization that's still growing, they wanted a service that would be simple for the team to integrate and effective for their patients.
Personalization was especially important because it can be challenging to personalize printed mail. With Paubox email, they are working on plugging in many more personalization features, like names, milestones, and more.
The Results
Coughlin is happy to report that their emails have a high open rate and reach patients successfully.
Coughlin and Joseph are both pleased with what Paubox has done for their communications so far, "I do really love the seamlessness of sending secure emails out," said Coughlin. "I can just send [an email] and feel confident that it's secured. They don't need to open anything complex or put in passwords… And then, having a capability that allows us to send the mass marketing type emails out is a way to save on costs."
"I am excited for what we can do [in the future], even more so than we're doing today," Coughlin added.
