HIPAA center - an approachable, fun way to cover HIPAA news

HIPAA center - an approachable, fun way to cover HIPAA news

Aloha!

Last Friday we used my iPhone to film the first edition of HIPAA Center: A Top 5 recount of HIPAA moments from February. We had a blast filming it and we remained consistent to our brand: We make covering HIPAA news approachable and fun.

HIPAA Center Script

Here's our script, which we tried our best to adhere to. HG: Howzit! My name is Hoala Greevy and I'm joined here today with Evan "Fitz" Fitzgerald. Welcome to our innagural edition of the Paubox HIPAA Center. We are filming today from the Embarcadero right here in San Francisco. Fitz: Without any further ado, let's jump into our Top 5 HIPAA moments in the month of February 2017. HG: Coming in at #5 is another large HIPAA fine. This time it was issued to Children's Pediatric Hospital for $3.2M. Their troubles started back in 2010 and again in 2013 when they reported a lost Blackberry and a lost laptop. Both were unencrypted.

Fitz: At #4 we have a comprehensive study in the correct size of the HIPAA industry. Did you know that the Bureau of Labor Statistics does not count Pharmaceuticals or Health Insurance companies in its coverage of the Healthcare market? In fact, we determined that the actual number of employees in the US facing HIPAA compliance is 22 million workers. HG: Wow that's a big market! Coming in #3 is yet another big HIPAA fine. Last month Memorial Healthcare Systems agreed to a whopping $5.5 million fine due to failure to maintain audit controls on their systems. Man that's a lot of dough. Fitz: At #2 is a fireside chat we did about the Future of Digital Health in a Trump Presidency. Not only did we have a stellar panel of healthcare experts, entrepreneurs and Venture Capital, we also got a writeup in CIO.com. Good stuff right there. HG: And coming in as the top HIPAA moment last month was HIMSS17 in Orlando. We packed our gear and trekked from SF to Orlando via an 11 hour journey and pounded the conference floor. We look to be back next year with even more force. Fitz: Catch us next month as we continue our next installment of HIPAA Center, brought to you by Paubox. HG: Paubox is the easiest way to send and receive HIPAA compliant email. Paubox was built in Hawaii and now we're scaling in SF. Aloha!
