AI agents
AI agents refer to any type of artificial intelligence that acts on its own to perform tasks, solve problems, or interact with its environment.
The term AI agent is broad and can include a wide range of agents that use AI for different use cases.
GPT agents
Last year we wrote about GPT agents in healthcare. In a nutshell, these agents are AI systems that use a GPT model to perform tasks like generating text, answering questions, translating languages, or engaging in conversation.
GPT agents are a subset of AI agents, but not vice versa. In other words, AI agents can use a variety of AI techniques, whereas GPT agents are specifically powered by GPT models for handling natural language tasks.
Email AI agents
Now that we know an AI agent can use a variety of AI approaches, let's focus on what it can do for email.
AI agents in email are important because they lead to increased productivity, security, and compliance.
Email AI agents can be used for:
- Inbox management. An email AI agent should provide threat management for every mailbox. In other words, spam, virus, phishing, and ransomware attacks should never reach the inbox in the first place. In addition, emails that require special attention can be flagged or otherwise marked for the end user.
- Response generation. Email AI agents generate automatic responses to routine or common inquiries, like scheduling meetings, acknowledging receipt of emails, or answering FAQs. Taking it a step further, an email AI agent even takes action upon a transactional email, like automatically forwarding receipts to spend management platforms like Brex.
