Howzit from San Francisco!
Here are four book suggestions for your summer reading list.
What's happening: As mentioned with my spring 2023 reading list, I'm constantly looking to learn and level up.
Why it matters: I consider reading a vital component of my job as a startup CEO.
Here's the list:
- What the Elders Have Taught Us by Natives of Alaska. A neat and quick read, the book lays out ten traditional values that are common to all Alaska Native cultures.
I couldn't help but wonder, do we have a similar work for Hawaiian culture? The closest I can think of is Olelo Noeau: Hawaiian Proverbs and Poetical Sayings by Mary Kawena Pukui. - Shape Up: Stop Running in Circles and Ship Work that Matters by Ryan Singer. We are implementing the concepts in this book now. Mahalo to Dean Levitt for the recommendation.
- Unscripted: The Epic Battle for a Media Empire and the Redstone Family Legacy by James B. Stewart and Rachel Abrams. A well written account of despicable behavior among a wide cast of characters. This stuff happened recently too.
- Chip War: The Fight for the World's Most Critical Technology by Chris Miller. If you work in tech, trade stocks, or enjoy geopolitics, this is a book for you. The best book I'll read this year.
The bottom line: Do you have a book to recommend? Hit me up.
