I caught up with Paubox Kahikina Scholarship advisor John Aeto today at The Pacific Club in Honolulu.
What's happening: After touching base on last month's fifth annual winter networking event for the scholarship, I asked John how to increase attendance for neighbor island recipients.
He immediately offered to personally cover airfare for a Hawaiʻi island recipient for our next winter event, which will be on Tuesday, 20 December 2025 at The Pacific Club.
I quickly shook his hand and offered to match his generous offer. Now we've got two neighbor island recipients covered.
There's more: An hour later, I texted another Paubox Kahikina Scholarship advisor, Kelly Ueoka (President, Pacxa). After catching him up, he also offered to cover the airfare of a Kauaʻi recipient.
Secretbonus: I matched his generous offer as well.

Now we're up to four airfares covered for our neighbor island scholarship recipients for this year's winter networking event on December 20th.
About the scholarship: The primary objective of the Paubox Kahikina Scholarship is to encourage Native Hawaiians to pursue careers in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) or tech in general.
The scholarship is recurring in nature. In other words, recipients receive $1,000 per year until they graduate.
