U.S. health giant Kaiser Permanente has disclosed a data breach affecting approximately 13.4 million current and former members.
What happened: Kaiser's websites and mobile applications may have transmitted personal information and health-related search terms to third-party vendors such as Google, Microsoft, and X (formerly Twitter).
The breach occurred through an online tracking code
The FTC finalized significant updates to the Health Breach Notification Rule, extending coverage to include health apps and similar technologies not previously covered by HIPAA.
