Paubox gives back: Volunteering at St. Anthony's Foundation in San Francisco

Written by Rick Kuwahara | July 26, 2019

On July 11th, Paubox joined other local startups and the Zendesk for Startups team in getting high-quality clothing to those in need.

The afternoon was spent sorting, selecting, organizing, and hanging clothes at St. Anthony's Foundation in San Francisco.  St. Anthony’s Free Clothing Program is the largest free clothing program in the city and provides warm clothes, interview apparel or workwear, and children’s clothing to approximately 150 low-income families a day.

Guests are invited to make selections from the racks of the free clothing store - which has a wide variety of coats, shirts, pants and other items in a variety of sizes and styles. Before any item of clothing is stocked in the free clothing store, it is checked for quality and sorted by clothing type into bins.  Clothes of the same type are then sorted by size and hung on racks in a staging area. As new items are needed, clothes are transferred from the staging area to the store.

Paubox volunteers participated in each part of this process and gained an appreciation for how much work is involved. This was the second community service event of 2019 for the Paubox team.  In March, Paubox team members helped serve 481 meals at the GLIDE Church in San Francisco's Tenderloin district.
