WhiteHat Security founder Jeremiah Grossman took us on a tour of their Santa Clara campus yesterday. The ethical hacker culture is alive and well at WhiteHat Security, which was exciting to see. We saw trophies, t-shirts, and even bobbleheads that center around their relentless approach to web application security. Plus too, Jeremiah is from Maui so that was a double bonus for us.
At the end of the tour, we chatted in his office about what we're doing at Paubox. Jeremiah quickly understood our value proposition when he said, "UI is the biggest hurdle for email encryption." UI, or User Interface, can be thought of as the space where interactions between humans and machines occur. In the case of email encryption, we can see that past implementations of it, namely PGP, have not achieved wide adoption. This is because PGP requires humans to do too many things in order to achieve the desired result (encrypted email). In other words, PGP introduces too much friction between the user and the machine. Jeremiah's keen insight into email encryption is exactly what we mean when we coined the term seamless encryption.
Seamless encryption has two characteristics:
These are the guiding principles behind our approach to Paubox Email Suite. The customer does not have to change their behavior in order to achieve the desired result (encrypted email). You can get a feel for how it works here. Contact us today to see how we can help you.
